My Blog Title: The untold the retold
From [https://my.clevelandclinic.org]: Ebola is a serious, life-threatening type of viral hemorrhagic fever, a viral infection that damages your blood vessels. Ebola symptoms start off like the flu (influenza). But they can progress to: severe bleeding (hemorrhage); neurological disorders (conditions that affect your brain and nerves); severe vomiting. Ebola outbreaks develop in countries of West, Central and East Africa. Ebola viruses start in: antelope, fruit bats, nonhuman primates (apes and monkeys). Each type of Ebola spreads in the same way. Orthoebolaviruses spread through contact with body fluids of infected animals (spillover event) or humans. Body fluids include: Amniotic fluid, Breast milk, Pee (urine), Poop (stool), Semen, Spit (saliva), Sweat. You can get Ebola from surfaces, objects or medical devices that come into contact with the virus. You may even get it from eating the meat of infected animals.
From [https://www.mayoclinic.org]: Malaria is a disease caused by a parasite. The parasite is spread to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes. People who have malaria usually feel very sick with a high fever and shaking chills. While the disease is uncommon in temperate climates, malaria is still common in tropical and subtropical countries. Protective clothing, bed nets and insecticides can protect you while traveling. You also can take preventive medicine before, during and after a trip to a high-risk area. Many malaria parasites have developed resistance to common drugs used to treat the disease. Malaria signs and symptoms typically begin within a few weeks after being bitten by an infected mosquito. However, some types of malaria parasites can lie dormant in your body for up to a year.
From [https://www.cdc.gov]: Cholera is a bacterial disease spread through contaminated water and food. Cholera can cause severe diarrhea, dehydration, and even death if the disease goes untreated. People living in places with unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and inadequate hygiene are at highest risk of cholera. Cholera is an infection of the intestines caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. You can get cholera from drinking water or eating food containing cholera bacteria. Most people who get cholera don't get sick. However, cholera can cause life-threatening watery diarrhea and vomiting. [https://my.clevelandclinic.org] Source: Cholera is a disease you get from bacteria (Vibrio cholerae) in contaminated shellfish or water. It can cause mild or severe watery diarrhea that can quickly lead to life-threatening dehydration. If you’re unable to replenish fluids, cholera can be fatal. Access to clean water and toileting facilities can prevent cholera outbreaks.
From [https://www.who.int]: People infected with plague usually develop acute febrile disease with other non-specific systemic symptoms after an incubation period of one to seven days, such as sudden onset of fever, chills, head and body aches, and weakness, vomiting and nausea. Historically, plague was responsible for widespread pandemics with high mortality. It was known as the "Black Death" during the fourteenth century, causing more than 50 million deaths in Europe. Nowadays, plague is easily treated with antibiotics and the use of standard precautions to prevent acquiring infection. It is transmitted between animals through fleas. Humans can be infected through: the bite of infected vector fleas; unprotected contact with infectious bodily fluids or contaminated materials; the inhalation of respiratory droplets/small particles from a patient with pneumonic plague. Plague is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacteria, usually found in small mammals and their fleas.
From [www.cdc.gov]: Leptospirosis is a disease caused by the bacterium Leptospira that can be found in contaminated water or soil. It affects many different kinds of animals and people. Without treatment, leptospirosis in people can lead to kidney damage, meningitis (inflammation of the membrane around the brain and spinal cord), liver failure, trouble breathing, and even death. In people, leptospirosis can cause a wide range of symptoms, including: Fever, headache, chills, body or muscle aches, vomiting or nausea, yellowed skin and eyes (jaundice), red eyes, stomach pain, diarrhea, rash. Many of these symptoms can be mistaken for other diseases.
From [www.who.int]: Yellow fever is an epidemic-prone mosquito-borne vaccine preventable disease that is transmitted to humans by the bites of infected mosquitoes. Yellow fever is caused by an arbovirus (a virus transmitted by vectors such mosquitoes, ticks or other arthropods) transmitted to humans by the bites of infected Aedes and Haemagogus mosquitoes. These day-biting mosquitoes breed around houses (domestic), in forests or jungles (sylvatic), or in both habitats (semi-domestic). Yellow fever is a high-impact high-threat disease, with risk of international spread, which represents a potential threat to global health security. From [https://my.clevelandclinic.org]: What are the signs and symptoms of yellow fever? It’s possible to have yellow fever and have no symptoms at all. If you do have signs and symptoms of yellow fever, they might be less severe or more severe. Less severe symptoms may include: Fever, headache, body ache, tiredness (fatigue), nausea and vomiting. More severe symptoms include: Very high fever; jaundice (your skin and the whites of your eyes turn yellow); hemorrhage (bleeding); shock; liver failure; kidney failure; death.
