This descriptive narration is a brief extract from the summary of the movie drama titled “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and 2”, a depiction of the story during the Pandyan dynasty and Chola empire India. From [https://m.imdb.com]: “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and 2” This title comes under the genre of historical fiction. This is a story written by Kalki Krishnamurthy about the power struggle during the Chozha rule between 900 and 950 ADs. The three main points of the plot are the ruler Sundara Chozhan and his sons Aaditha Karikalan and Arunmozhivarman (who later ruled as Rajaraja Chozhan). The conspiracies and the struggle for power between the main characters and those around them forms the basis of this story. During 10th-century in Thanjavur, the Chola dynasty rules prosperously in South India, under the reign of Emperor Sundara Chola (Prakash Raj) (the emperor of Chola empire), whose sons Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) (the crown prince and the commander of Northern troops in Sundara Chola's Reign) and Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) aka Ponniyin Selvan are heading their conquests of Kanchi and Lanka, respectively for the empire. In Lanka, Ponniyin Selvan and Vandiyadevan are attacked by Pandya Aabathudavigal (a group of devout soldiers or loyal troops in the Pandya dynasty, who are working under Nandini's orders), which is headed by Ravi Dasan (Kishore), but are rescued by a veiled woman Oomai Rani (who had saved Ponniyin Selvan from drowning in the Ponni river at a young age, thus giving the name). Ponniyin Selvan heads towards Pandya Aabuthudavigal's ship to rescue Vandiyadevan and they drown in the sea due to a storm and are consequently presumed to be dead. The news of Ponniyin Selvan's death reaches Sundara Chozhar, Kundavai, and Aditha Karikalan who are all devastated. Later, Sundara Chozhar decides to abdicate the throne in favor of his only surviving son. However, on the coronation day, Ponniyin Selvan proposes crowning Madhurantakan, who adopts the name 'Uttama Chola.’ The epilogue reveals that Vandiyadevan and Ponniyin Selvan led extensive conquests under Uttama Chola's reign. After Uttama Chola's death, Ponniyin Selvan ascends to the throne as 'Rajaraja Chola,' while the Pandyas are captured and punished. Epilogue is a section or speech at the end of a book or play that serves as comment on or a conclusion to what has happened.
From [Wikipedia]: Ponniyin Selvan was initially intended to be a single film, but was split into two parts that were produced concurrently. Joint principal photography for both parts began in December 2019, halting twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and ultimately wrapping on 16 September 2021. Ponniyin Selvan: II was released in theatres worldwide on 28 April 2023 in standard, IMAX, 4DX, and EPIQ formats, and received positive reviews from critics. It was featured at the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama mainstream section. The distribution rights of the film in Tamil Nadu were acquired by Red Giant Movies. The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana distribution rights were bought by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations. The Kerala distribution rights were bought by Gokulam Gopalan's Sree Gokulam Movies. The North India distribution rights were acquired by Pen India Limited. Lyca Productions acquired the overseas distribution rights. The digital streaming rights for the film were purchased by Amazon Prime Video for US$15 million and started streaming on the platform from 2 June 2023 in Tamil and dubbed versions of Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The Hindi dubbed version premiered from 23 June 2023.
The satellite rights of the film were sold to Sun TV.

638 AD: Christianity reached China
From [AI overview]: Nestorian missionaries, representing the Church of the East (East Syrian tradition), were remarkably successful in expanding Christianity across Asia between the 6th and 14th centuries. Operating largely as merchant-missionaries, they utilized Silk Road trade routes to spread their faith into Persia, Central Asia, and China, establishing communities despite operating outside the Byzantine Empire. From [https://ccsmglobal.org]: The first Bibles ever to be seen in China were probably carried in by Nestorian missionaries in 635 AD. The Nestorians found favour with the ruling Tang Dynasty 618 AD to 907 AD and were permitted to translate some Scripture and share the Christian faith. From [AI overview]: In 638 AD, Tang Dynasty Emperor Taizong issued an edict “an official order” allowing Nestorian Christianity to be practiced and a church to be built in the capital, Chang'an. This followed the 635 AD arrival of Persian missionary Aluoben (Olopen), who brought sacred books and was welcomed to the court, marking the earliest documented establishment of Christianity in China.
